With the threat of an arbitration hearing looming later today, David Ortiz [stats] and the Red Sox [team stats] have agreed on a salary for 2012, a source has confirmed to the Herald.
Ortiz will make $14.575 million, the midpoint of his desired salary ($16.5 million) and the Red Sox’ offer ($12.65 million) and a raise from the $12.5 million he made last season. Had the case gone to a hearing, the sides would have made their arguments to a three-person panel that would have decided on Ortiz’ salary.
